I was starting to feel a tiny whiny bit bolder on the course, like I could see a glimmer of the the woodswoman within, but this was dangerous. Pride before a fall. Perhaps it was safer to stay in a state of constant anxiety.
Next they took us deep into the woods, down a series of winding paths and over areas of not the slightest beaten track. We came out in a small clearing next to a stream. It looked much like the site where they filmed The Blair Witch Project, so it was reassuring to see familiar territory.
Long logs were piled up in the clearing along with small piles of leaf mulch. They explained this was a collaborative project and together we would be building a shelter in which we could spend the night. The assumption was that we would. Apparently it was a rite of passage and woe-be-tide anyone…
